Somatic (body-based) Therapies for Trauma, Stress, and Chronic Illness
Facilitating a Shift from Trauma Responses to Increased Wellness
I specialize in trauma resolution, since 1997. Primary modalities: Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems Therapy, body and energy work, and herbal medicine. I also offer groups and retreats.
I most often work with traumatized folks who have tried talk therapy with little change, who suspect that their bodies have the answers to their healing, and/or who are therapists or practitioners themselves and are seeking experienced facilitation or supervision/consultation.
Please see my Sessions page for more info about how I work.
My current collaborative offering at Susu CommUNITY Farm:
UNBINDING SUPREMACY ~ WEAVING CONNECTION:

One of my deepest inquiries into the human experience: How can we practice being our full, authentic selves in the face of oppression, abuse, trauma, and illness, and also in the face of connection, care, community, activism, and love?
Usually when a person is unable to feel connected with themself and others in ways that feel meaningful and satisfying, it is often because overwhelming experiences from the past or present are showing up in the body and nervous system. Sleep and digestive issues, emotional overload or shut-down, relational difficulties, chronic pain or illness, addiction, anxiety/depression, etc are common experiences when living in this country. Besides abuse, injury, and neglect in personal family dynamics, this often includes social traumas experienced as a result of living within pervasive systems of oppression and harm, on a daily basis.
Also, sometimes the stress of having a chronic illness or recent diagnosis (sometimes unrelated to trauma) leads someone to feel overwhelmed and seek support to find some relief in their body and not see it as the enemy.
For those with a longing to develop capacity for living a more rich life, I also work with people to find their true longing and life purpose, increase their intuition and body sense, feel more ease and joy in their life, connect to their own spirituality, connect more deeply with others, and learn to trust their body and life as it unfolds in the present, with the possibility of feeling more free from the burdens and traumas of the past while not forgetting where they have come from and how they got there.
I invite you to read my Testimonials page for a sense of how folks have experienced and articulated their journey with me.
My training is extensive (ongoing since the 90s) and my understanding of the body and energy field inform my approach to psychological health. I look forward to working with you in a meaningful way, either in-person or remotely. Please be in contact with your questions.
On Healing...
Each person's "healing" experience is unique and is sacred. My own experiences with trauma, chronic illness, and marginalized identities inform my commitment to practicing being a loving, non-judgmental support with deep presence. I meet each person where they are without an agenda to "fix" because I don't see anyone as broken. My intention is for our sessions to be a safe and welcoming place for you, while knowing that safety is deeply subjective and may or may not be accessible so far in your life. In my practice I strive to provide a place where all races, ethnicities, classes, religions, cultures, and languages are embraced, valued, and honored. I welcome you to show up in full expression of your gender identification and sexual identities and I will use the pronouns you choose. You are valued and welcomed here.
